As a hobbyist system, the Mac mini is adequate. You will not get stellar rendering performance because of the G4, but it will still be ok. Screen display and updates might not be perfect because of the Radeon 9200 and the 32 MB of video ram. However, you will be able to work ok in Maya. Just don't expect high-end performance from an entry-level machine.Originally posted by Statuskuo
I just purchased a Mac Mini and wanted to run Maya 6.5. The system I ordered does fill the minimum requirements (1.25 Ghz, 512MB, 80 GB) but is weak on the Vram at 32MB. Has anyone run this system with Maya? I want to make short animated projects (10 minutes) and I consider myself render patient friendly (as this is a hobby). Or am I looking at another system?
