Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

engraving text into poly mesh.

hey

need a hand with a small prob- not sure how to around it but i want to engrave text into a poly mesh, im modelling a d-link router just as an exercise, through texture mapping it does give a good effect but i want to see what it looks like when its engraved onto the mesh itself.

any ideas?
cheers in advance.

or you could make a displacement map

and if you want you can do a modify-> convert -> displacement to geometry, if you find it necessary to add it onto your geometry. (though i would just keep it as a displacement map)
