Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Modeling a human head.

Hey, I was thinking I´d try modeling a human head, I´ve never tried that before. Well I haven`t actually tried almost anything before, I am new to this, but anyways what is better for modeling a human head: Polygons or Nurbs?

And if anybody could come with some Tips and/or screenshots that might be helpfully I`ll gladly accept.

Well I can't honestly say that one is better than the other. I would have to suggest you try both, depending on your experience working with Polygons and/or NURBS. Both are different, but you could certainly do it with either. Basically what you feel most comfortable with, and then try moving on to using another technique.
As to online tutorials, i'm not sure how many free ones there are available. I'm sure if you look you could find some though. I bought the book, 'Learning Maya 6: Modeling' It has techniques for modeling both Polygon and NURBS heads, as well as modeling polygon and NURBS characers. It even incluedes a DVD on patch modeling a human head, which is a third technique.

ahhhh, ok.

Well so far I´ve tried NURBS to make a basic shape of the face and then converting into polygons for making eyes and mouth. But seeing as it is my first time, it`s obvius that I´ve made mistakes, but every time I start over I see imrovments. so thanks. I might save up for the book ( finally got my first job so it might be possible, hehe )

I sugest polys. A good way to farther what you learn is to look at how other people do there typology, there mesh. You can do serches here on SM and the other boards for face and see there wires.
