Demo reel?

Is it important to have a demo reel when applying for a game artist job as a modeller/texturer? I don't have any animation to show, just stills of models, wires, texture maps, and I have 2 games with my artwork in to make release builds of. Oh, and drawings/paintings to show my traditional art skills. So, is a CD portfolio of these stills and games enough, or should I make a demo reel anyway?

The reel is only necessary if you want to show animated segments, for example, video clips of your models working in-game. Otherwise, I think a portfolio of stills should work just fine.
