This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.

I wouldn't be too concerned with it. Both products will stay the same. Maya will stay Maya and Max will stay Max. Just better intergration between the 2.
Yeah, I believe anything new in the future wont have FBX, but you will still need it for all the current stuff, unless a special plugin is made to replace it, but FBX support still might extist for all older versions. In general, it will be intresting to see what kind of intergation their going to come up with since MAX is a Windows only platform.
