This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

1st modeling try (ugly and strong guy)

here´s my first try with 3d modeling. No idea how to texture it. user added image Have to read some tutorials here. I fear it will be something difficult because I used a too much polygons... :headbang:

and here is the smoothed version. I don´t know, if I did it right, because I never before smoothed anything user added image I used the function POLYGONS > SMOOTH with its default values...

hi mc-fleury,

thank you for your comment user added image , so here are the sketches of the character. The first ones are more lively when I invented the character. The second cleaner ones I made to use for modeling...

Now I have to find out, how to texture it. I tried to use the texture editor, but I haven´t found out yet, how I can import a texture image into the texture editor... user added image

now i can see what you were trying to do.its not bad and for texture,you should watch some video.go there:https://www.mtmckinley.net/ .there is a good tut about polygon texturing.if you buy points, you can buy some video about how to texture your model.

I think this is a really cool model for a first try. Just one thing that sort of sticks out is the crotch area. I think it's a bit too prominent user added image
The first sketch you have on your character concept is real nice too. It reminds me of the Predator from AVP.

try baking lightning information and use it as a reference for painting u're maps.
