sub - d render issues

I have been following the car tutorial from digital tutors, and I am converting to sub-d's. All looks well in the work environment, until I do a test render. When I do I get extra bits of geometry which attatch themselves to certian parts of my car.

It looks damn ugly and I cannot understand where they are coming from as they are not visible in my view and I have not even modelled them. Any help would be appreciated.
