Adding MEL Scripts

I've just downloaded from SM the Xray toggle script. I have copied the *.mel into program files/alias/maya... /scripts along with the other mel files now do I have to trigger it to appear in the shelf somehow? as it currently isn't in the shelf.

go to that file double click the xray icon and it should open maya
open script editor (bottom left of screen)
it should say
toggleXray;
selct this and middle mouse button drag it onto what shelf u want e.g. cutom.
on that shelf it shold have an icon sayin mel
and that icon will toggle - from there u can edit it so it has a diff pic or wording
hope this helps
reply if u get stuck

Now at SMU doing BSc 3D Computer Animation so its hard to get on here

Thanks for the response. I followed what you said, but there appears to be an error as follows:

file -f -o "C:/Program Files/Alias/Maya6.0/scripts/startup/X_Ray.mel";
// Error: } //
// Error: "C:\Program Files\Alias\Maya6.0\scripts\startup\X_Ray.mel" line 42.1: Syntax error //
// Error: Error reading file. //
// Error: //

Maybe the file is corrupt, has anyone else had any probs recently with the xray toggle from this site before?

Any ideas?

I had a couple of problems using X-ray MEL scripts that I came across - until I used Danny Ngan's excellent script.

You can find it on his site www.dannyngan.com

Give it a try.......
