yo all this is my current project i wonted to try somehting a bit different n have done cartony stuff in the past so i thought i would try my hand at gettin something which looks real.
so thats my reference image this is what ive started on so far only like a hour done so far, but some basic modelling just the outer shell and inner main bit, anyone got any ideas on how i could add the tenticles ive been thinkin bout modelling mall individually but that will be a serious time consumer.
I wonted to enter this for the competition but wernt allowed so i thought i may aswell do it cos it will be a lot a fun.
Tips, ideas, help are all appriciated.
this is with a glow on the inner bit, looks kinda cool, but im ot sure wether to hide the source or not, this is with the source hidden, what u guys think?
im not sure bout paint effects, i dunno how to use them, whenever i do they only paint on the grid nowere else, i could maby use the line tool and deform it?
I wanted to do a jellyfish a couple of months ago, so I went online for some references. After doing the initial body I ran into the same problem that you are having now: how to make the tentacles?
I googled some more and came across a tutorial that explained how to do exactly that! The PDF for this tutorial can be downloaded here:
It explains how to do the tentacles and also goes on to explain how to make a small animation out of it. This tutorial was written for an earlier version of Maya, but if I recall correctly I didn't have any major issues finding what I needed.
dude that tut has been really helpful, ive been messin around with it for the last few hours, i never used paint effects before, but there looking pretty good, what u guys think, i mean a lot more detail still needed but id say its comin along, the tenticles need more work n im gonna add a bunch more in that are a bit more radom some which come up like in the ref pic.
yer i only spent a hour on the shell bit just wonted to see if icould pull off the tenticles before spendig hours on the shell onlyto find the tenticles wouldnt be possible.
anyone got any idea of whati need to do to make the dome look more 3D because it is but because ive applied a transparecy to it it goes really 2D like you see above
Thanks
