Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Hello joopson,

I like the texturing, z-brush maybe?

Are you going to have it as part of a scene? Without some sort of background or colour it's a little ambiguous as to what it is.

Take it easy,

Mat.

Looks good, but like Happymat said it really needs an environment to go in.

What about putting a "mouth" or "ear hole" on it in the middle of the dish thing, or some paint effets/hair as tentacles??

Just a thought

well, i am using maxwell render, which does not support painteffects, and this model is made to "watch" you going through a base on pluto, they try to follow you inconspicuosly(spelled wrong?) and if they notice you, they use ultrasonic sound to summun nearby creatures. so they dont need a mouthuser added image

I like what you have done so far joopson - well done. I think that your model could definitely use a bit more work - some more details to tie it into what you have written about your idea. I really like the fact that you have put a lot of thought into how this sentry operates - a lot of people, myself included, just create stuff cos it looks cool, without fleshing out a backstory to give their project authenticity - I think that this could be an interesting project. Keep up the good work.
