Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Mar/Apr - Norm - joed8349

I would like to enter this contest becuase it definitely sounds fun. Maybe this time I can finish.

I was thinking about what I can create and I have finally come up with an idea for a dragster that will transform into a mech/robot. I will post up my drawings later, but here is a picture of the vehicle.

mech

Here is a very simple image of the mech/robot.

The large back wheels will transform into hover jets.

A head will probably pop out from the inner body, as will little arms.

I especially like the hoverjet idea for the tyres!

Hover Tire

I figured I'll start with the back tires. Here is the beginning of one. I created a polygon for the rim and converted to Sub-D. I made it like a fan blade, for hovering purposes.

I thought I uploaded this drawing last week, but apparently not.

Here is a simple drawing of what the robot would look like.

I'm still working on the mechanics of the robot, but here are some reference pictures of dragsters.

This will be a slow process becuase I still have so much schoolwork to finish.

It also looks like I need to learn a lot about how to render and light a scene. That really helps the outcome a lot.

Here is a little update, I'm trying to decide on the interior of the wheel. Right now I have fan blades, and I may keep the circular rings.
