heh, well the wildcat 4 is out now too for an even heftier price.
Personally i have a wildcat vp870 which cost me $580 and ive been having major problems with it lately and have actually put my old gf2mx in.
If you use media player or anything like that i would probably advise against 3dlabs cards as i am sure you will have some problems.
Even though im on a stable card right now, i still wonder whether my system is going to reset itself when I ALT+TAB like it was doing two days ago on my vp .
The quadro xdccs are of course as stable and bugfree as any other geforce card and run pretty darn fast.
They have just released an upgraded agp 8x version too.
If money isnt a thing i would advise you go with the xgl 900 or wait to see exactly what nvidias nv30 has to offer.
Ive not heard anyone say anything good about any of ATI's GL cards and well the 9700 pro still has pretty iffy drivers to a few people i know who bought them.
ATI FireGL 8800 is what i've got...works great for maya...i had some issues, but that was with my motherboard not liking it at first. drivers are actually pretty good.
check out the brand-new FireGL X1 though! i think i might upgrade to that...
As far as i know, quadro's play games pretty well. They're real good all round cards being that they're workstation cards. They're Maya certified as well as 3ds max, adobe premiere, photoshop, illustrator as well as a host of cad software. Fingers crossed im hopefully getting mine, the 750 XGL within the next 10 days or so.
for a high priced card i recommend the ati fire gl 4 - got good reviews on that...
For a midranged card - for maya - ati radeon 9700 pro... future proof too
