Yeah over the built in bevel tool. I don't think MJ Poly tools has a bevel thing, at least not what I'm looking for. Byron's Poly tool has it, but it only works for 6.5 and earlier. :/

Well I want something that can actually do a real bevel keeping 4 sides instead of having it do some wierd 5-6 sided polygons(that's what maya's built in bevel does). It takes a bit of time to edit it, so I was just wondering if there's some type of plug in that would do it nicely.

My bevel works fine in maya no 5/6 sided faces user added image

Yeah see where there's triangles in your polygon right there?
That's exactly what I don't want. That one is pretty easy to fix where I can just merge the verts. When it gets to be more complex, it gets kind of hard to fix.

Adjusting settings don't really work either.

Can you not just extrude the faces and then scale them? That way you want have any triangles.

extruding is not a good option. what if u need to bevel a non-planar surface. like a side of a car or along side of a desk to round out the corners.
the tool he is looking for is byrons' bevel tool. works much like 3d max bevel,
im not sure where to find it at this point.
but koshigaya has just relesed a bridge tool for maya. i personally cant use maya without his stdio tool set.
so check it out. there might be a bevel in there too.

Hey Vlad

I dont have prob with either of those in particular when it comes to extrude, we have byrons here at work but we never bother with it, as good as it is.

Thanks guys,
yeah I was using byron's poly tool for 6.5. It's pretty awesome except sometimes it deletes your shader. Kind of annoying, but for what it does, it was really worth it. Unfortunately it doesn't work on 7.0 :/

And yeah I agree with Vlad that extruding doesn't really give me what I want. It works fine, I use that too, but when it comes to a smoothe surface at a wierd angle, scaling it to the way you want it can be a pain in the arse.

Anyhow I'll check that site out.Appreciate it. user added image

lol I didn't upgrade in the first place, but the videocard I have, I had no choice but to upgrade because for 6.5 it crashes a lot!! I mean a lot! Especially when I put the imagine plane in.
There wasn't any support drivers for 6.5, so I assumed that was why.
