Referance pane issue 1st question

hello ive been looking at and bought a few trial vids to test out.

but ive tryed a few buttons and things i get same with mymy files at university and at home the images never seem map straight where as they do in the tutorials

im trying to follow the game polygon character tutorial and im foxed at the 1st turn!

assigning a bug character front side image to planes..

i can try and sourt it out with planner mapping but is there some other setting somewhere that might be causeing it to scew from the start?

ive reset most options changed to inches, even tryed all options in texture mapping in the option box of create plane.

any help there?

Whats the problem with the image plane?? How does it look?? How have you assigned the image (as an actual image plane or as a texture on a nurbs plane etc??)

Post an image as it will make it much easier to sort it out as its a bit confusing to what's going on.

Cheers

i created the erm "lambert" with the hypershader

middle drag lambert, double click it choose colour, file "find photoshop japeg file"
select plane middle drag lambert with image on to plane.

my plane is set to strech to fit as defualt i tryed other options to no text and keep aspect btu same issue..

heres a pic of the scewed file

the planer maping and cylidrical mapping tools dont help much and as its scewed even just rotating the plane is not quite right..

I think theres a bug in maya 7 that does that for some reason, you can go to alias's site and get the upgrade to 7.0.1 (or something like that, that should do the trick.
