Modeling Teeth

I was wondering, how you guys would model teeth, or a correct way to do so.

Do you model the gums as part of the head, or should it be a geometry of it's own. Same goes with the teeth, should it be part of the geometry, or should it be by itself?

i find some teeth refs to follow.
model the gums [top/bottom] then teeth as seperate obj, its easier to rig and texture that way.
