Hey guys thought id give this ago, looks like fun
even if i dont get this finished, ive taken part user added image

havnt been using maya for that long, so this is a first

My combo was "Outside Tin"

first thing that came out of it

So heres the idea:

a Tin (of beans or something) seen walking away from the shop, he has been disposed of because he has a dent in his side,

the camera will focus primarily on the tin, with the shop in the background

The tin wearing an sadish face & carrying a bag tied to the end of a stick

not to good at drawing but here is a rough sketch of the tin attached

Good Luck all

Jay

after a bit of quick work

i got the rough shop & where bits is gona be placed

came across one problem though, for some reason everytime i tryed to use the append polygon tool to sort out the P on shop its kept like crossing over instead of just making the square or triangle

there wil be a cash machine put into the part of the building that has been extruded

its basic poly form, there is parts that need smoothing etc, but they will be done when ive laid out everything

Jay

*edit* the render is maya default settings, so not to good quality

Looking good - I think the problem with the append to polygon tool is that the normals on each part are facing different directions. Select one of the sides that you are trying to append to and do edit polygons>normals>reverse.

Hope this helps.

Nice looking start!

As for learning everything in Maya, even seasoned pros are still finding things they didn't know!

Just a thought here.

You could model a cake in a tin pan, and place the camera looking out of the tin pan into the kitchen.
