This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

maya 4.0 and 4.5

Hi,

I am a newbe to 3d. I have been using flash. I would like to know if you can have maya 4.0 and 4.5 installed on the same machine. The reason I ask is because of the plugin issues. Can you work in 4.5 then if you need to use mental ray, renderman or something else export the project to 4.0?
Thank you for any help in advance. There is so much to learn.

I have both Maya 4.0 and 4.5 installed on this machine. I can run them independently and at the same time (though it eats memory).
Only catch is you cannot open a 4.5 file in 4.0, but you can open a 4.0 in 4.5

That should help. =]

I hope I am posting this right.

Thank you for the info. Is there any advantage to working in 4.5 over 4.0 then. Maybe I should just stick with 4.0?
