Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Stretcjed Grid / Aspect Ratio? [solved]

I'm new to the program, doing an assignment for class and ran into this problem twice. After much searching to no avail, I've come here.

I must have pressed something close to the alt key and bam

Ctrl+z does not work... and I did not have incremental save on thanks to frantically restoring all the default settings on this same mistake made earlier (the first time the cat stepped on the keyboard)

thank you for any help you can offer!

Have you tried Preferences->Edit->Restore defaults?

If you do this you would have to change your tool settings as you go along as everything would change back to the default settings.

Hope it helps

Yep, I tried that also the first time it occured. My cat stepped on the keyboard. So I started over but I must have pressed the same key(s) she did. Also looked in the hotkeys for any nearby keys that could have produced that result and then tried to replicate it on another file. Couldn't reproduce it.

In short, :\ restoring any default settings does not work.

Oh dear, I assume that you've reset the grid settings?

Have you tried creating a new camera and looking throught that? Something might have changed with the camera settings on the Presp camera??

Other than that I'm out of Ideas?

Another thing that I first went to. u__u; No dice.
It looks like the grid ratio is off, where yz> x, axis-ly [word making up there] speaking.

then close maya and remove your preferences folder from your maya directory. See if that fixes it. If it doesn't then re-install

Tried deleting my preferences also, no dice again.
It's something to do with the actual file. When I open other files in Maya their grids are perfect.

So it's not Maya's program settings themselves.
