Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Exchange duplicated instance

Let's say I have duplicated a model several times as instances. I've then repositioned, rotated and scaled those instances.

Is there any way to exchange the original model so that all the instances also changes their mesh but keeps their rotations, scaling etc.?

I don't think one may directly avoid rotation or scaling when duplicate-instancing...

But I have one ace up my sleeve:

Try right-clicking on the transform channels in the channel box (scale, rotate, etc...), and "lock" them (lock what you DON'T want to change) ; see if that works :p

That has nothing to do with what I wanna do. I want to exchange my mesh for another mesh. And keep all the transforms.
