Painting on Nurbs with 3D Paint Tool

I created a curve first by importing an EPS, then by using the Arc Tool...when I duplicated it and lofted it, I've been having some real difficulties painting it with the 3D Paint Tool (see photo). I have the resolution to 512 and I'm drawing straight lines...they seem to be straight in the UV Editor, but on the model they seem dashed.

I researched the forum and I see mentions of remapping the UVs, but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone offer some help?

Thank you!

possibly straight with a nurbs plane, then bend however you like, deformer, .., change the axis and rotate.., whatever? then try to paint on it, also add more sections to the plane. might work, just a thought. user added image

take it easy and life will be easy
