Haha, nice one ColdWave. Much better than my first go at an animated character. All mine did was jump up insync to the start of a music track. The binding was horrible and even that made the model look good. user added image

Just wait until the shoulders are bobbing up + down a bit (more?) and there's some sideways movement of the spine and rocking side to side of the hips.

So, did you use the SDK to do her toes rolling?I saw a really neat approach to this somewhere once, though I never could get the feet to work as well as yours.

If you've animated the whole walk-cycle, Hurrah! I'm still trying to get back to doing that, too many pots on the boil, so to speak.

It's a good effort, well-done mate.

Simon.

Psst, NeoStrider - try using the DivX player found at divx.com. I had the exact same error msg when I hit it with Media Player, nothing else I tried with would touch it either. Nero, QT Pro, Cyberlink, Maya.

simply

Well see my model with Skeletons Ik handels and some controls like locators and etc ...

1st - >
https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/2.JPG

I set Ik handle from his waist down to his heel then to his foot and finally to his toe like in the picture below.

2 - >
https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/3.JPG

i make groups for the Ik handes like in the picture . And see that i add additional attribute to the top of the group this will be my controller later.

3 - >

https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/4.JPG

( sry for the pic :) ) So now i choose this group and move the PV point down to his heel so that it can rotate like this

4 - > https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/6.JPG

The same technique for the rest ...
https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/7.JPG

5 - > https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/8.JPG

Same :)

6 - > https://www.gp4e-vd.com/wallpapers/simplymaya/9.JPG

And now i choose my main group as a Driver.Pick the row value . Choose the other subgrups as a driven. Pick the rotation ... in my case is X and key them ..

After that i go to my main group called - " Row_stoinost_za_krak" and i make the row value ( as i told u up in my post that i add additional attribute ) up to 10 and i row my toe up and i key it . I set the row value to -10 and i take my heel and i row it back and i key it ... and when i pick my row value and scroll through -10 to 10 it make a movement ( i explane it a llittle bit fast coz the technique is clear i think )

You have the same problem I had when i jum,ped into animation.

It looks really un natural (sorry - i know its not easy). Get hold of the Walk Cycle and the Foot Rig tutes from here. They are very good and work a treat.

The arms need to be more natural and theres no hip monement.

Yeah it's quite good for your first attempt though still a distance to go. A few things i noticed...

-There is no bending of the toes throughout
-The forearm seems to bend like it is broken (it bends past the elbow the wrong way)
-There is no sway to the character, your shoulders lean in towards the leading foot as you walk, and you spine compensates by twisting counter
-You lean forwards as you take your leading forward step and straighten as your feet pass
-Your arms, hands are moving too much in unison, flick the wrists up wards and arms in towards the body on the up stroke.
-When striding you almost subtley 'bounce', body higher on the stride then lower when feet meet.

Sorry to go on, but having done a good few walk cycles it tends to stick into your mind. Nice effort so far. user added image

No Prob m8...

Foot Controls

Hand Controls

Walk Cycle

Another tip is, if you have a video camera to hand or could borrow one. Film yourself walking in a few styles and try to mimic them in your animation. Also can you post a wireframe of the rig you have created. A good rig is the key to easier animation.

You'll notice your hands and arms kinda flop about down by your side and dont really swing about that much. But that is dependant on your own walking style or the style you go for. Also even us guys have a wiggle and hip swing when we walk, and these are important to good believable animation. Its all grouped under the tag of "secondary animation". Cause and Effect.

Good Luck theres a lot to learn. Just study people.

Just don't get caught 'studying' people too much, you could easily and quickly be branded a perv. user added image
