Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Jan/Feb 2007 Finals!

Post your final images here! At the end of the entry window, a poll will be made and everyone will be allowed to vote for their favorites. Note that the winner of the poll is not necessarily automatically the winner of the challenge, as other factors are also considered in the judging, such as following all the rules and guidelines.

This challenge ends March 7th and this thread will be locked! Good luck!

Well here is my entry to this year's first contest. user added image

It is a cartoonish version of a catfish, it is very asian inspired. I also tried to catch the feeling of the sea with the waves at the pediestal.

Note to Joopson: I hate when people say that their work is bad, it sends a negative signal in vain.

P.S. Do we send the file to you if we win or before?

well I was hoping to get lots of time on this but Uni is taking over modelling at the minute user added image

Here's my 'various references' version of the Emperor Hadrian of hadrian wall's fame. Modelled originally in 3DsMax then converted to Maya and finally imported into Mudbox for some finer detail. It's been a good learning experience using a sculpting tool instead of push/pulling vertices and no doubt I'll revisit this head and make it better in the future - when I've figured a far better mesh workflow that doesnt take you into millions of polys when you need tens of millions of polys for fine hair detail! user added image
