Karmann Ghia

Hello everyone this is my current project I am working on. Trying to recreate the VW Karmann Ghia which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Any ways enough talking here are some shots of the car. I have already fixed the back window just have not rendered a new shot of it. Please tell me if there are other errors. I hope to get some constructive criticism soon. Thanks.

Hi, I don't know enough about 3D to really critique yet. However, I just went to https://www.angelfire.com/ny/ghia/ to see what one looks like (didn't even know there was such a thing). I agree, pretty nice car. So far, I think your model looks good. From my perspective, you've got an excellent start and I can't wait to see it when it's finished.

always good to see another car modeler lol. About those vents, you have have a lot of cuttig to do with your split poly tool.Your mesh will end up being heavy but thats a lot of cutting u have to do to make thoese vents

Or you could use an alphamap, but that won't give you any depth. Depends on how much detail you want. It wont make a difference unless you're very close up.

yea dj is right. if ur going all out with details then model it but if u dont care bout a lot of details and will not have a close up, then map it. this guy named dave3d did such a nice tut on a break disk and is has really good quiality yet its all maps so it saves a lot of processing time and since u wont see it up close, it doesnt matter.

:attn: :attn: :attn: :attn: :attn: Finally I figured out a way to keep the mesh down and have all quads. Hurray geez after a day of playing around with it but hey it was a learning experience. Here are some pics of what I have done.

Updates should come faster I hope unless I run into something hard again.

I think the vents look really good. I'm impressed at how you did them, keeping them all quads and at a minimal (thanks for the indirect teaching). You've made me want to model a car now. Keep up the good work.
