Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Amusement park - Need Help

Im making a section of an amusement park, looking to get a nice creepy render. I want to give this amusement park a very creepy look, I dont need detail on the rides because as you can see the fog kinda blinds you from it (which I like ) but I need as much help and suggestions on making this really scary looking! Any help would be great!

Ok, I got the basic look I want, maybe ill add in a few more shops or another ride. Now I am going to model my first character, A little girl, ages 8-10. I need this to be creepy and a nice little girl always does the trick!

Yeah, small girls, dolls and clowns are the most creepy things in this world. user added image

Maybe a depth of field effect at the girl would enhance the effect.

I also think impaled human bodies/dolls are kinda creepy, and perhaps some things/amulets hanging down from a tree. user added image

I know you want to cover up things in fog and distance but believe me, going the extra mile with some detail for the buildings and rides and then cover it up will step up the quality of the overall. Pay attention to silhouettes and negative space. No need to do this early on in a blocking in stage, but you know. Eventually.
Still maintain the original idea of what you don't see is far more disturbing than what you can see.

I love the theme so will follow this with interest. Play some of the Silent Hill if you can find a playstation 1 owner and the follow ups on the ps2. The first Silent Hill may be old and uggly but no game has had me that stitched lol.
Silent Hill 3 is brilliant too. More suspense and very very disturbing. They've studied their Dante's Inferno well and taken loads of inspiration from it.

Have fun with this one.

Weyu - Im going for creepy rather than blatantly violent, so the amulets and necklaces (or childrens toys) would be a great idea! Thanks!

AlphaFlyte - Ive actually started to create this into an animation rather than a single render. It will be a simple creepy plot. But it will have a short 20second flashback to the original park (Sunny day, all the color, no fog, ect.) Ive also Downloaded a women model off this site and tweaked it to what I need, the model by Ryan123. Ive textured her, made her a bit smaller, smoother, and slightly more menacing looking, so thats what ill be using as the Dead Girl. I once played Silent Hill, very very scary... Almost as scary as Fear! It does have alot of ideas and inspiration. Ill try to finish this project by the end of this weekend (minus rendering).

I think Silent hill kinda overdid it with all that demon junk,(I got to agree that it was creepy thouser added image) But my favorite is silent hill 2, the creepy hospital and that weird psychopath with a triangle over his head was really amazing/horrible. user added image

PS dont bother with silent hill 4 it was pretty miserable. user added image

Ok, the basic animation is done, but it will take a long time to render because its around 5000 frames using different cameras. So Ill do each section a night and hopefully get it up here sometime soon :/ in the mean time ill be starting a Bathroom Project (No, not taking a crap). So ill post my progress /w that on my regular WIP thread.
