Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Hostage Rescue - Maya, Motionbuilder, Vue

hi guys.

It's been a long time since I posted here. I think the last time I posted, I was still living in VA. I now live in NC.

Here is an animation I worked on with several of my team mates here.

Nice going, how many of you were working on that and for how long?

Crit parts:
the lipsync could do with some heavy work and some of the arm movements are a little sticklike
the downward camera angle pause after the grenade is thrown in is a bit strange as it saps the movement/energy and continuity out of the action.

Good parts:
Helicopter scenes
storming of the building (up to the grenade part)

Good work guys

Ive got to agree with t1ck on the granade part, I dont know if the pause might be to build up some tension, then BANGGGG?? But it seems to slow the whold section down.

The Helicopters with the Vue environment look superb

hi Guys,

thanks for the comments.

it took us about 3 and a half weeks to complete - 19 days total.

3 animators and 1 sound guy. 1 animator worked on the podium scene and the other team mate worked on the terrorist scene.

I worked on all the helo shots, the corridor scenes and the grenade scene.

yeah, the grenade camera was deliberate - since we didn't have time to show the hostage takers shot and the hostage rescued, we decided to put the focus on that flash bang grenade. and follow it with the voice over.

It was a fun project - quick paced.

Loved it. It came out really nice especially considering the time constraints. Great production values. Grenade is fine I think. Conveys and fits the very dramatic mood nicely.
As you know and the guys already pushed home above, for the next project, step up the lipsynch and counter stiffness a notch and it will 5 stars.

Above all I think all of you had a lot of fun with this one, and I salute you. More shorts to the people. Get back to work Solomon. We want more now.

wow that looks like hardwork espeically since it was done it an amount of 19 days ... great job and lots of effect to put in this.

crits atm are some of the scenes the motion's with the characters wernt that smooth and looked abit jittering. also the lip sinc was off by
just a little bit at the start though with all that done i reckon it would hit the 5 stars as alphaflyte commented early,

keep up the good work guys, looking forward to more ... could you make it abit more actiony with bullets flying around the room and people getting injured and shot etc,

I can't add anything more to the post as its already been said by tick.

On a personal note... I found the topic very... topical, but done in quite a cheesy way. Sorry to offend anyone out there, it just seems a little un military, but it does hits the correct buttons of all the typical US Movies for this subject matter.

Good Job.
