Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

dirrectx Parallax mapping in maya

I'm considering using parallax mapping for my game design. My game engine supports the DX Parallax shader. I would like to model and map in maya and some how generate this mapping for my engine in maya. I found FDisplace's mentalRay shader but I dont think that going to work since its a different shader. Anyone know what I need or if there is a tutorial out there on this, my googling is not turning up any results.

i think if you share what 'parallax mapping' is then more people will be able to help you...

assuming people know what you're talking about limits the amount of people that can help you.

I'm not sure I follow you? If a person does not know what parallax mapping is I don't see how they could help. Then a gain I'm the one that is asking for help so Ill do my best to explain it.

parallax mapping AKA offset mapping

It is bumping mapping's brother. Just another algorithm to make this look very realistic with out modeling the geometry for gaming. My question is how to generate the bump maps and normals map I need in maya.
