Can't delete unwanted vertexes

Hi,

during modeling I've created two, overlapping vertices on top of one another. When I try to delete them, I get the following message in the command preview:

// Warning: Some selected vertices have complex edge attachment; Delete Edge/Vertex removes selected vertices and related edges //

But, they do not delete; I've also tried to delete them by right clicking in the channel box, but they stay.

Anyone able to help?

thanks,

g

Post a wireframe showing that area of your model with the vertices selected. That will help us determine the problem easier and give you a good answer.

DO a cleanup operation on the geometry. If you are not getting to delete some of the veryts it usually indicates a problem with the edgeds connectiong.

I suggest going in and removeing the faces on either sdie of the geometry, but it does sound like you have kinda opened a can of worms.

You can just do a Print Screen if you want. No need to render.

Eye that might sort it.

You might also have a normal in the wrong direction so id give it a go checking the normals.

As Chris said it can be a pain to get it sorted.

Sometimes the script editor makes its own scripts that help you out, you might need to open the script editor to see the full text.

Thanks for the responses folks - I tried working with the edges round about the points and have managed to get rid of them.

I think I'd misused the split polygon tool and created some bad geometry.

I'm having some more issues though, and I've got a new thread called "Co-ordinates in Maya issue". If you could help there it would be great.

cheers,

g.
