Maya 8.0 in Vista works slower than XP

I usually used maya 8.0 in xp, but I have recently installed vista. Maya worked great with xp. But now with vista, I don't know why but often I can't see the models in all four views. I have to move the camera blindly, but then an other one of the four views becomes gray. Is this just because Vista uses more system resources leaving less for maya, or is it some kind of option?

I dont think maya 8.0's fully supported with vista, that could be the problem

Autodesk says Maya is supported in Vista Business. Don't know wether a different variant of Vista would have an impact but I think its safe to make an educated guess that this is most likely caused by Vista's wonderful hardware compatibility user added image

As far as I know (looking at the qualification charts for version 8) Vista aint on it.

I think that maya 2008 has full support for it (reading the bumf)

turn the theam settings under display from vista to classic and Maya will run 200 times faster. it does not like the transparency setting vista uses (the reason for the grey screens in Maya), apart from that I had no problems with the switch over to vista.

also 8.5 with sp1 works a treat under vista

Ok I'll try that. I think that will most likely fix it. Thanks to everyone for all your replies
