Seperate Polygon?

hello,

how can i make 2 cubes of this object?

i have tried to select all faces on the one side, detach component, seperate, combine selected faces. then i have an object with a hole. the fill hole tool doesnt work.

i'm sure there is a simpler way...?

grab one side of it and go to 'extract' under the 'mesh' menu.

no, didnt help. i selected the faces on one side, hit extract. then i get all faces as objects. when i combine them and make a fill hole, still doesnt fill the hole...
