I wasnt sure if i was up for this mths challenge because of the limited time i've got, anyways i will have to wait and c if am able to get somewere with it . attached is an unpleasant skecth of wat i intend to do,

thanks gys well i have done abit more since the last and any comments will be welcomed am think of creating some vines around the structures any ideas to achive that pls

Hey great start there,(and welcome to texture hell-LOL-)

You can use paint fx to make vines along some of the pillars, or a layered texture but i would not use that on something that close to the camera.

I would also like to suggest that you brake down some pillars and fix the arc because that is looking jagged.

hey thanks mastone say no more am already thinkin of texture hell already and am not even half way done yet....as per the pillers am not sure wat you meant by breaking it down if you can explain abit more. the arc is still a poly and i intend to convert to subD or smooth . thanks for the advise

At the moment al your pillars are whole(as in one piece) so if you want to make it look like a ruin i would suggest that you demolish some pillars to give it a decayed look.

sept/oct challenge

hi ppls this is an update so far i havent been able to make quick progress but hpfull i should be able to make the deadline date. am still not sure about the landscape ive got on at the momment any ideas or comment will be helpful

A piece of advice

*I think you should go on with the one on 23-09-2007. It looks much better.
*the 2 pillars to the right are just standing there with no purpose. I think you should either break/remove/replace them with smth else.
*I think you should also create a ceiling for the whole thing to make it look like it's an interior of some structure, for some reasons:
- You won't have to texture the outdoor
- It will look great if you break a part of the ceiling and let some light flow through.
---If you follow this Idea you can attach/continue the semi-arc
on the top-right to a ceiling and create a door between the two pillars on the left(under the arc).
I'm just a noob in Maya but I think you've done a great job.

thanks for the advise Benny, very good ideas . ill give it a go as i like the idea of the light comming tho the ceiling and interior bit.

definitely agree that you should go with the composition from the 23rd - it was looking very cool - just needs something to the left to balance it out.
