Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
This time it's a security guard for some of the Subterranean levels of the PFT organization where the military funded projects are and so these guys are more like soldiers.
In fact they are based on these guys

Exept I'll give them better guns, maybe something along the lines of the G36.
Just started so got a bit of designing to do and will prob begin with the helmet.
These guys will feature as security and military presence at the PFT complex. There will be quite a few of them. The photo is of the Vision 2020 design being worked on at the Natick Soldier Center which unsurprisingly will be in issue in 2020. I will also be making an improved version, an updated version in my story which will also be based on the real Vision 2020 model but take it another decade or so on in development fitting the stories timeline.
The first 5 pages are finished but will remain under wraps for the time being. The rest is a mixture of some storyboards some dialogue both on paper scribbles, digital records on my pc and pda, and electro-chemical (in my brain)
The website at the mo for it is just an ad, and I have another one waiting, but I want to get more finished before I launch, with about 12 pages and a few other sections on the website.
The opening shot for it is this

The building on the left is the PFT-AK (Pandora Future Technologies - Alaska) building. This is where the first chapter takes place, and the old professor dudes works here along with Eugene O'Neal the founder. The Guard above will be posted on the subterranean levels of this complex.
That's all I can say for now, but I will continue to post updates showing it's progress with various characters vehicles weapons etc until it's launch and beyond.
Thanks man, I appreciate the support and encouragement, it means a lot when people show interest into a project that takes a hell of a lot of dedication and hard work to get going.
It makes it worthwhile.
Sorry for the late reply was busy yesterday. Updates look nice, love the pipe work, very Geiger!
Did you use a script for the pipe or lots of extrudes and a bend deformer?
I would just darken the cars on the left in the picture to save re- renders, that should keep the eye away from there, the shot isnt about them so to me its no big a deal.
Yes, Im with you all the way Gio with that comment. Its a hell of a lot of work, its also something that I want both of us to achieve, no matter the content and whose is better than whose. The personal satisfaction of getting this done will be immense and also a middle fingered salute to those non believers. Gio knows exactly who Im refering to here, we worked under severe conditions and an iron fist in this type of work a while back, we knew what we could achieve but were always told NO!
Im afraid the time has come to prove those people wrong.......
I seek, the means to fight injustice.....oops getting carried away now:bandit:
