Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

REQ: Mel-Script or Tool for breaking polygon Objects

Hi all,

I'm searching for a script or any ida, how to simply "break" a polygon object.

Example: I created a "Wall" (Polygon Object) and this wall should be broken up into several cracked parts. This means, there should be several new polygon objects fitting together.
The control of the cracks should be easy or random.

I found the CrackMe 1.0.0 MEL script, but it's hard to control if you want to break up big surfaces.

Is there any other script or tool around?

I don't need any animation or particle system, cause the rest is done by RF.

Thx for your help!

Update: I already tried internal solid Shatter, but the output is not as good as I hoped.

There's a script on highend3d.com which lets you separate polygon objects into multiple pieces, but then you'd have to draw the cracks yourself with the Split Polygon tool.

Ok, this works, but I don't want to create every break on my own. I hoped for something like BlastCode, but without all the simulation. Only to break up objects realistic to export them to RF.

Is there any commercial product to do this?

Would the shatter effect not work for you?

No, it doesn't work, cause I have to set the origin of the shatter and I found no way to set it for the solid shatter. :-(
