Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Bit of a newbie but, here it is

Well, I have been working on this gun here for a while, and this the first time i've ever made anything in maya. So here it is. It's supposed to be a big gun that uses sound as a weapon and is attached to the user at the hip. I haven't started on the hip part, and I am only just starting the sheild on the right side (some kind of energy sheild, but I need to make the thing that produces them first )

What do you think? Should I give up and go back to drawing?

Uhhh, about 3 weeks, but I also had a little bit of experience with bender, strata, and wings. This stuff seems to click with me fairly well. The hard part, the guy who is going to be holding it, that's what I'm worried about. No Idea how to model organics, so i'll probably have him covered in armor.

Looks pretty good. The only crit I have is that you should turn that glow down some. Also, you didn't have to post 8 pics of it. user added image

Thanks! Sorry, but it was really complicated and i Didn't know if I could have gotten away with just one render to show what it is. Is anyone here good at explaining how to make a uv map? I have had a hell of a time figuring that out.

It's a gun that uses sound as a weapon, but it does look a bit like something that would be skimming the surface of the sea, or maybe some sort of hover bike or something.

Here's a video of the final render of the gun going in a full circle., with the exception of a few things I'm going to add once the character who will hold it is finished. It think it's pretty solid. I know thwe lights are a little bright, but thats an easy fix.
