I miss my Compass...

Hello all,

Well, i am now the proud owner of Maya 2008. :attn:

But, i have a problem... i miss my compass

The new view cube is brilliant, for what it does, but it doesn't actually give you "Proper" view, such as the side view is not actually a side view, in the fact that your still in a perspective mode as opposed to an Orthographic.

So I've been getting by using the space bar and toggling between view, and of course utilizing the view cube for it's advantages, but now I've ran into a problem. If i want a back view i can't just hit the back view om my cumpass any more, so i have to go through the Panels and preferred book marks just to change to view that isn't in the space bar (or at least not within fast access of the space bar.)

So i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to toggle on and off the compass, as i can't find a way, even if there isn't a way, and the compass doesn't exist anymore. Does someone know how i might create a Marking menu that would allow me fast access to all the different view at the click of a button.

Well, i hope you understand what I'm getting at, and i could really use some help right now user added image

Thank you, user added image

"Um, this isn't Mars. This is Earth."
"Earth? Earth-with-nuclear-weapons Earth?"
"Yes."

Maya 2008 doesn't come with the Compass. I was hoping someone might know how i might go about creating a making menu to access the Preferred bookmarks.

I've been doing allot of reading in the Maya help files and it say that i will need to use Mel to assign these option to my marking menu, and i haven't the foggiest idea where to even begin when it come to Mel scripting. user added image

I'm going to Google, and see if i can find anything.

If anyone has any idea how i might accomplish what I'm after. I would love to hear from you. user added image
