Slugish Camera Movement

I have had this problem more than once. It seems as if when I import an image on the front or side views that the camera movement becomes very, very, slow and sluggish. I only have a 500kb picture uploaded. Could that be causing this. Has anyone else had this problem besides me, and if so does anyone know what the problem maybe?

This usually happens regardless of how big the pic is. The easiest way to go is to simply create image planes and map your references on there. But, if you want to keep your current files, you can put them in a layer and make them invisible when not in use.
