Video question

when i creates a polygon plane, and adds new lambert and adds a movie material to it, wich kind of movie file format does it? .avi?

I would recommend using an image sequence over a movie.

If you create a new material, hit the little box next to colour and select file from the 2d texture options box that pops up, then load you file and i believe theres somewhere in there to select load image sequence etc, soz can't be more help but don't have maya open at mo.
