Cheers mastone,

It fits the ref that I've got, and looks like most of the ref in general, i'll have a look at it just to make sure, could be the camera angle

Cheers

Steve

i think i remember this! looks great so far - the snout doesn't look too bad to me - maybe a little long - but as you say, could be the angle.

looking forward to seeing where this goes! user added image

This look really good!

I agree, maybe the nose is a tad bit too long, but it's hard to tell. I googled up some refs, and in some shots it's spot on, but in others it's off..... So I'm guessing it's the angle.

The only other thing that I see, is the nose needs to be slightly more defined. Just make it a bit more prominent.

Anyway, this is really nice. You don't see many people modeling (realistic) animals around here user added image

Great work!

Bit more, getting the body going, ive pretty much gone from scratch as the topology on my last model needed too much work, bit easier to redo it.

Once I get it all done to a bit of a degree I'll probably refine the muscles in Zbrush.

DAMN those poachers in Africa, with their DAMN land Mines user added image

Anyway.....

This is looking really great!

I would have tackled this model differently though. I would have boxed everything out first to get the proportions correct. Though your way is working out pretty well so far.

Looking forward to seeing you throwing some fur on this thing!

Cheers man,

Its all personal pref, to be honest, I box model heads, then edge extrude quite a large area to get the basic proportions in there then go and refine it (unless its a hand or clothing as i'll box that)

Just find I have more control over where its going this way, as with boxing a whole object I end up getting a lot of edges all over that I find a right paint to sort out.

Just what I find easier.

Looking cool steve, I really like the head you've got there. All it needs is some tweaking on the snout/lower mouth area and it'll be spot on. Nice start on the front of the body too.
I should get my polar bear head out and finish the body so they could have a fight user added image

starjsjswars - dont know if you do life drawing but in that its better to start with the head so you can always re-reference proportions back to it as things develop - it saves ending up with a pea sized head at the end (which I have done many times in the past) user added image
