Advice on cartoom mouth using blend shapes

I am creating a short and simple animation involving a Bee as the main character

I'm not quite sure the best way to go about modelling the mouth. Baring in mind I'm a newbie and this is a newbie board, how would you recommend I go about creating a realistic cartoon mouth that I can create various poses such as gasp (mouth slightly open), a scream (mouth wide open), a smile (mouth open) and surprise (an O shape). I want to add a bit of life to him.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Mike
