This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Out Of This World Character

Began this character, kind of working from a concept out of my head, but the outcome differed a bit from the original concept (not a bad thing).

Just a head and shoulders at this stage, let me know what you think. user added image

Good start, i like the droop in the back of the head...nice touch, it has a sense of Oddworld about it, perhaps give the cheek area more flesh...

Thanks for your comments guys. user added image

I'm going to do a few sketches to sort out the body, not sure whether to go human sort of body or a cartoony short proportions style body.

Finally an update, coming along pretty slowly. Not getting a whole lot of time to work on this. Let me know what you think of the proportions and everything. Hope to have an update soon.

Another update, looking at it now the head from the front doesn't look like it should be a part of the body. Well anyway here it is.

Interesting, its not exactly what I imagined the body to look like. I imagined something more skinny looking and taller, it just seemed to fit the bill better that way

Been thinking about this character, thought I might take a little inspiration from the abe's odyssey games. Heres a couple of images I found which I may incorporate into the design.
Usually I have a very clear set design when I begin the modelling stage, but this time I have been making it up mostly. I have learnt to better plan from now on.

yeah its usually best to plan ahead. that way you can determine problems before they arise and usually correct them

Improved the look a bit. It's sort of an alien race that has crash landed in a jungle sort of environment and has had to adapt to the new surroundings.
