This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
i was watching one of Kurt's tutorials the other day and he was using a tablet, and you see on 'the making of <movie/game>' such as God of War that the visual artists are using tablets too
does anyone here get much use out of their tablet? or what sort of tablet would you like?
i would love to have one of those tablets that are lcd screens too, cuz then its easier to see what you're doing with the pen. I've used a few tablet notebooks (just briefly) and it was great fun
the only thing with the notebooks (unless i'm totally wrong which i wouldn't be too surprised since i haven't done any research on this yet) is that you can't just connect it to a PC and use it as a second monitor
and when i went to wacom to find out what tablets are like that, it shows me the cintiq model, which costs more than my laptop and second monitor put together... :attn: (expensive stuff is COOL)
does anyone on these forums have a cool tablet like the cintiq?
Yep me to although I got myself a wacom Intuos 3 a5 for 180 quid and is possible the best 180 quid I have ever spent. Makes all sculpting software come into a world of its own and its great for photoshop.
I use a a little graphire a5, I was lucky I got it for 10 english pounds ($20) from a friend who got an intuos! Its great for Zbrush and Ps work, though I may upgrade in the future
I have an Intuos 3 9x12 (the other ones were just too freaking huge lol) and I get a lot of use out of it since I use Photoshop and now recently Zbrush.
I have a Adesso CyberTablet 6400. I use it for Photoshop and Vue and I got it on Ebay for about $40 USD. I actually bought 2, one for work and one for home.
They are like my trusty sword and shield.
Graphic Tablets are a most have for any CG artist.
so no one yet has one of those cool tablets that are screens?
i just have some little tablet that i think is broken... if i put the pen into the holder, which is attached to the top of it, the cursor starts to jiggle and slowly move down...
actually, i have to try it out on my current setup with two monitors....
i'm betting that it'll have a spot that doesn't register anything since my second monitor has a higher res than my laptop...
the only thing is (at least i think) is that the cintiq wouldn't be able to stretch across over all monitors
i hear the intuos are suited for multiple monitor environments
i thought tablets would just stretch to all monitors anyway, but as i have found out, my current tablet doesn't do that...just sticks to the primary one...
