Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Audi R8

Hello Folks,

I know it's quite a long way into the process, I worked on it over the last week so far, but it's still a WIP so I thought I'd post this here for some crit.

You can probably see that it's a car, it's a couple of years since I made one so I thought I'd brush up.

I can't take credit for the alloys, they came with the shader (which I have adjusted) but I did make the tyres and the rest of what you see.

There's a little ironing out that I need to do on the bodywork, the headlights and the engine needs to be built but I don't think I'm going to do the interior at this point.

Anyway, your thoughts are always appreciated.

Cheers,

Mat.

Very nice looking, but after looking at some pictures, the hood seems a bit flat, but i could be wrong.

Thanks andy,

I'll double check the shape of the hood against the blueprint tomorrow.

And cheers Shadowspy but the rims are the only part of the model I didn't make but I might still get around to building the proper R8 rims at some point though.

I'll have some update stuff soon.

The car looks great. I prefer the wheels from I Robot lol.

shadows way too hard mate, it looks like the diffused lighting used at the display shows, so the shadows do not match at all.., user added image

Hi Mirek,

cheers for your thoughts. Yeah, it's mentalray, I've just got the default settings on the shadows right now, it keeps the render time down but still gives a rough impression of how it'll look.

Not sure when I'm going to get this finished, showreel and job search stuff is really taking over at the oment.

I will get it done at some point in he near future though.

Take it easy,

i hear that mate.., stay cool.., this time is worse than being at uni.., more stress ect.., i know you dont need my advice.., but do not be discouraged.., keep trying for work.., dont do what i did.., get scared.., lose confidence.., throw it all in the too hard basket and go back to college.

make that reel .., as jay would say (or Russel user added image ).., 'win the crowd, give them something they have never seem before'.., i know you can do it. 10 sec of great stuff will win over one min of mediocre.

(maybe Jay or one the mods will throw some work your way or an introduction user added image ) (he is gonna kill me for that user added image)

we have a forum here of pros called 'DLF' and lists jobs daily.., maybe you have that there??
