Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Not bad user added image but the image compression is taking away from it. Hopefully you didn't save it as a jpeg straight from Maya, it'll give you pretty poor quality. One thing that is confusing me though, the pattern the blinds make isn't showing up on the floor.

yes i did save it as a jpeg straight from maya. and i was wondering the same thing about the blinds. it may be the image compression though.

i think it's showing but it's just really similar to the break in the boards on the floor so it doesn't really pop out at you... try rotating the floor texture 90 degrees and see what it does for the shadow *shrug*

I think you should try to decide on what mood you want then go from there.

definitely has a sunset feel to it, although the low camera angle is just a little disorienting... also since the shadow from the blinds takes up the whole wall it doesn't really remind me of blinds anymore, more like a slatted wall.
