Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Attach polygon plane to camera

Hello.

How do i attach polygon plane to camera, so that it will always rotate towards camera? I'd like to use it on a tree. I know paint effect can to this, but i wanted to know if there is way to use it on regular planes or objects?

rotate the plane the way you want
then make it a child of the camera. it will always face the view

Hm aim contraint seems to be the right thing, but i can't figure out the correct settings. So, in order to only rotate in one direction(around it's Y axis), what setings should i set?

Also, since i'd like to use this contrained poly plane as last lod level, how can i duplicate it? If use regular duplicate, the copy won't be contrained.

oh i thought you wanted to do something else.
like create some sort of on screen display...
but parenting gives more controls, instead of constraining. you can still key frame rotate values, or create a more elaborate heirarchy, make lods based on distance etc...

the first part show constraining, which locks your rotate values. the second shows parenting, which you are free to move scale object or rotate. or script to be overdrawn on screen, so there is no clipping.
