Feet and Inches on a grid?

Hi i was just curious where the grid settings are located. I am watching a tutorial and my instructor has the grid set to feet, but it also displays inches? And i have no idea where to turn them on

right, but there is only options for the working units??? no where that i can see to add inches to the grid when the world units are set to feet.
