My First PC

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new computer, i have about £800 to spend. Could someone point me in the direction of a good PC. I'm fairly new to the whole PC thing as i've used macs for many years.

I'm looking for something that will handle Maya, Shake, PFtrack and Zbrush. So i guess i need a Quad Core, 4GB Ram and a Nvidia graphics card. I'm not bothered about an OS, i'll use Linux.

would a gaming PC from PCworld do the job? I also had a look at this site, but i don't have a clue about cooling systems or motherboards or whatever. user added image

Any help would be appreciated,

thanks user added image

Buy a mag on it, theres loads that have reviews/best for the money etc, they should give you an idea.

You might struggle to run Zbrush on linux.

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D

But isnt the "latest" and thats used loosely as its been what 2006 since apple dropped it version 4 or something, so it is not for mac's only?

Maybe try fusion instead???

Also look out for the i7's as there faster than the core 2's, and they should be in your price range, though you may struggle running linux on it as there really new, have to have a look up for that.
