This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend any easy to use, and most importantly of all, good UV layout plug ins that are free?
I found one that's working quite nicely called RoadKill
(I guess quite a few people will have heard of it or use it)
but I wouldn't mind trying out some other ones if there are better ones available.
Thanks people, I have RoadKill and am starting to get to grips with it, so much faster than I had thought it was going to be!
Will probably stick with it for now, headus uv unwrap was good as a trial but don't really have the funds to pay for it at the moment, maybe in the future.
I think you're right Hammer, it's just handy to have the plug in at the moment while I'm practicing my modeling, then once I have confidence in that I'll spend a lot more time on learning layouts and texturing.
Because I'm teaching myself through tutorials and books at home I've worked out a system of what I'll concentrate on in what order, and what I'll play about with at the same time, so as not to confuse myself too much all at once.
I didn't get much regular education either so I'm teaching myself scheduling too! lol
