I'm not getting any shadows on objects that lie within a dim shadow area. The shadows are RayTraced and shadow "Color" set to a .5 valve, so it isn't completely blacking out areas in shadow. My problem is that the objects shadows are all pretty uniform. They seem to be floating in the dim shadow area and not casting shadows in the shadow already being cast. My question is, how do you get an object already in shadow to cast a darker area around itself, like a kind of secondary shadow.
you could put a light that is only linked only to that one object and is only casting shadows... post a picture of your scene - it's a lot easier to advise if we can see what you're trying to do.
Thanks Arran. I did finally get some pointers from a CGI artist based in the UK. His advice parallels yours. I simply duplicated the light source and then broke the link to the foreground object. After adjusting the two light source intensities and shadow colors I was able to achieve the shadow within a shadow effect. Thanks for your input. As always, its much appreciated.
