I have the 4 disc edition of FOTR and I believe it's an Easter Egg somewhere on the disc. I know I came across it by accident when I was exploring one of the discs....

Is is an easter egg on the first of the 4 special edition disks.

Just go to scene selection, and choose the last scene, #27 I believe, and use your remote to arrow-down and a "ring" type of glyph will highlight.

Selec that, and yor there with Peter Jackson saying hello as welluser added image

Yeah, that was from the MTV Video awards last year...funny stuff. They did a funny one for spiderman as well.
