Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Glow effect In blinn/Phong Shader

:headbang:

Hey everyone, Im making an animation with a glowing ball effect, and have a Blinn floor which reflect the characters and objects in the set. But when the glow comes into the floor I just see the object plain texture, not the glow effect on the shader. Im rendering with mental ray, and I was wondering if i forgot to change some setting, or if its even possible to get to see the glow in the Blinn's reflection. Heres what I mean :

your picture didn't show up,
but i'm assuming you have an object that has a glow (that you enabled in the special effects part of the material) and you want to reflect that glow...

if that's the case then it's not going to show up in the reflection because the glow doesn't actually exist in the scene, it's a post production effect, and thus is not considered in the calculation of the render

i don't know how you can reflect glow sorry..

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D

Could always add the glow in post, make a circular mask and add a glow effect to that, then move it around roughly under your ball object.

If you use an mia_material on the floor the glow will show in the reflection.
