Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

my third try! :)

Hello, I have to do an Animation for an dentist and I have to build a 3 dimensional Mesh for that!Just like the the attached image.
I googled it and found a shader which do that job.
But it must have a more cellular structure then the blobby holes in the image.

But the nice thing is that in that image you can easyly see what I´m looking for.

Is there a shader inside Maya or something like that???
Or an easy way to model it? Probably with easy scripts??

I found a plug in at high end, METABALLS and thought that I probably model it! But the plug in is for Maya 8.5 and is not compatible with 2009! user added image

Please give me any advice its really important for me to do the job as good as I can and because of that I don´t want to texture a flat image of holes! It looks terrible if there is no deph...

Thanks and have a good time... user added image

I think I remember reading your post about some kind of sponge material, apparently you still have the problem so I'm replying in this thread. Have you tried a displacement map? You can assemble on in Photoshop or if you have Zbrush you can sculpt it there.
